Hi everyone, hope that you all had a good weekend. I spent the weekend house hunting but the search continues.
I created something a little different today. I picked these little microscope art folders up from Meg's Garden and had so much fun creating my first piece of microscope art.
I used the Prima Cartographer collection which blended in perfectly with the vintage Parisian images on the inside.
I layered the front cover with the gorgeous Prima Cartographer collection. I hand stitched the middle sheet with embroidery thread. I used vellum and a gorgeous Darkroom Door stamp to highlight the Cartographer chipboard image. I love the effect the vellum has on the paper, you can still see the vintage script through it.
I hand dyed the vintage lace to compliment the colour scheme and threaded the Finnabair Mechanicals Love badges through some fibre. I finished the cover off with some gorgeous Prima flowers.
I wanted to keep the inside top cover simple so that I could still close the booklet. I used another piece of Cartographer paper, trimmed it with some more hand dyed vintage lace and added some Prima Say it With Crystals in the corners. I used another piece of the Cartographer chipboard pieces in the corner.
Now onto the actual microscope art piece. I started by using modelling paste and a Memory Box stencil to border the glass sections. I used Prima Color Bloom mists in Tea Stain and Worn Leather to paint the modelling paste. I painted the inside with Jo Sonja's paint in Raw Umber. I bordered the glass slides with embroidery thread and trimmed the edges with some ribbon. I love the vintage Parisian images under the glass slides, they really compliment the papers.
I also used an Igvild Bolme chalk ink to sponge round the edges of the fibres.
I kept the back of the booklet simple, just covering with another piece of Cartographer paper.
So what do you think of my first piece of microscope art? Would love to see your comments. I love the fact that this is something a little different and am really pleased with the results.
Come back and visit me later this week. I have 3 more projects in progress at the moment and can't wait to share them with you!!!
