Altered Writing Desk - Blue Fern October Challenge

Hi everyone and Happy Halloween. I must admit one of the things I miss most about living is in the USA is the whole enthusiasm around holidays. My favourite time there was Halloween and Thanksgiving. Trick or Treating and Pumpkin Patches, my kids used to love it. Perth, Australia is only starting to do Halloween but the streets in my area are empty.

Today I am sharing my take on the Blue Fern Studios October Sketch challenge. I love Blue Fern chipboard and the Montage paper line is definitely my favourite of this year.

Here is the sketch:

The writing desk that I decided to alter  is from Kaisercraft. This is the 3rd one that I have altered and all look completely different. I store all my laces and trims in them.

I used the Mercantile sheets for the sides of my box and for the top I used Wisdom. There are also loads of fussy cut pieces from the Bouquet sheet. I added a couple of brads from the Prima Delight collection.

The black frame is also Prima. It was originally gold and I gave it a paint with black Gesso to make it compliment the colour scheme of the papers.

Lots of fussy cut pieces from the Bouquet sheet make up the centre piece of my box. Underneath I used a vintage doily and some feathered trim. I added some black bling from Kaisercraft and some Prima flowers, buttons and brads.

I heat embossed the Blue Fern chipboard frame using the Stampendous Frantage embossing enamel in Shabby Pink. For the stem chipboard I used Aged Taupe and finished them off with Ranger Liquid Pearls in Bisque.

Thanks for joining me today, have fun this Halloween and stay safe.

Jen xx
