Prima PPP April 2014

Hi again everyone, been a busy girl tonight and next up is my take on the Prima PPP.

This was the beautiful colour palette for April:

April 2014 ppp

Apologies must go to Mr Stephen King for the destruction of his fantastic Tommyknockers novel but better to be up-cycled in a creative way than put in charity in my opinion ;-).

I decided to alter a book for the April challenge. and this really was a challenge!!! It took me 2 hours to cut out nearly 600 pages of this large hard back novel. I should have taken some photos of the mess that I made doing it.

The first photo shows the front cover of the book. I started off by covering the whole hardback cover with a chiffon fabric. I wanted to give it a vintage feel. I then trimmed it with some vintage cream lace that I picked up from a local charity shop. I used the beautiful new Princess collection in layers to create the front cover.

I used  Dusty Attic chipboard which I heat embossed  to frame the beautiful fairy image. I then added some beautiful pastel flowers to compliment the paper.

On the spine I used some Prima lace and crystal flourishes and some beautiful butterflies.

The back cover I kept plain, just trimmed with some pastel lace.

Moving inside now, the inside cover I again used another Dusty Attic frame around the beautiful phrase and image, again using the Princess collection. I used Ingvild Bolme chalk edgers to blend in the edges. I then added some flowers and a little left over piece of lace and crystal flourish. If you look at the bottom, I also added some cream Prima buttons.

I made the chest of drawers using 12 matchboxes. I  covered them with little pieces of Princess paper, edged them with more Ingvild Bolme chalk ink and added some brads from the Delight collection to give a knob effect. I added some flows, more vintage lace, a little fussy cut image from the paper and some more of the cute buttons to finish the page.

The next photo shows the depth of the novel and the matchbox drawers. I glued the drawers into the book to give better stability.

Thanks for visiting, I hope you like my altered book as much as I enjoyed making it :-).

Until next time,

Jen xxx
