Smile layout - The Scrapbook Store

Hi everyone and Happy New Year to you all!!!! I hope 2015 brings you health, love and happiness!!

Today I'm sharing my first DT project for The Scrapbook Store. Did you know that every month the Scrapbook Store runs a sketch challenge? The randomly drawn prize is a store credit, would love to see you join in the fun!

I decided to use the last of December's DT pack, the gorgeous Destination Unknown by 7 Dots Studio. This paper line has really inspired my creativeness. I have so enjoyed doing a lot more mixed media in my layouts and it's definitely something I want to incorporate into future projects.

The image is of my youngest son and I have titled it Smile.

I started off with plain white card stock and used the Prima Marketing Inc Finnabair Elements Texture paste in Antique Silver. I lightly sprayed it with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Mist in Black Orchid Silver. Once everything was dry and the texture paste was crackled, I rubbed some Baroque Gilders paste in German Silver over the stars and around them. Love this stuff!

The crackling effect in the texture paste is amazing!

I cut up 2 strips of Walk The Plank and adhered them to either side. I used 2 types of Stampendous Frantage embossing enamel on the Blue Fern Studios collage border. Aged Teal and Aged Silver. I love the multi faceted effect of this powder. The title is a wood veneer from Words or Whatever.

I added some of the tags from the die cut sticker sheet to create some depth and to border the photo. These were distressed and some Ranger Stickles silver glitter added to the edges.  I then circled my son's face with some black rope twine.

Again, I used the Stampendous Frantage embossing enamel listed above on the Blue Fern Studios stars chipboard.

I added some stickers from the paper line to the bottom of my page and used a Tim Holtz Idea-ology word band with some black leather twine. I lightly rubbed some white Gesso into the words to make them stand out. A couple of stars from Blue Fern Studios finished it off.

Got some exciting news to share about a new art journalling adventure I have started. Come back later in the week and I'll fill you in and show you my first page.

Thanks for visiting!!
