Altered tin for Art Anthology

Hi everyone, today I'm sharing an altered tin that I created for Art Anthology.  Our theme this month is texture and found objects, 2 of my favourite things!

I've got a real addiction for altering tins and suitcases as you may have seen from my previous posts. This one I picked up from a local vintage group and I had a lot of fun making it pretty.

I started off by giving it 2 coats of Gesso to prep my surface for painting. I used a deep green and also rubbed a darker brown onto the edges and front to give it an aged effect.

I painted my chipboard in the same shade and them stencilled a design using texture paste. I then rubbed some gilders paste on the surface to create depth. Using a fine paint brush I lined the edges in a lighter shade.

The flowers and other bits were from my "Finn tins". I was incredibly lucky to do some classes with the lovely Finnabair in 2013 and we were given a tin for each class packed with goodies.

I used matte medium to adhere the picture to the front of the tin. The image is by fantastic digital artist Christian Schloe and permission was requested to use it.

More painted chipboard was added to the front and sides of the tin.

I hope that you like my little trash to treasure tin.

Until next time,

Jen xxx
